The Dress
August 7, 2007That Dress, that dress, the oh so perfect frock of the century. So many styles, so many fabrics and ideas because you are getting married only once (you hope). From magazines, to TV shows, to the Internet, you will be bursting at the seams. How in the world do you pick the dress that means everything in the world?
First, I suggest, GET A HOLD OF YOURSELF! Drama Queens make really bad decisions. They can't ever be satisfied because obsessing is their first love.
Second, create a vision of your... -

August 8, 2007er... i am a guy. Just wondering about how long exactly you should give yourself to plan for a wedding. I totally suffer from IGS (Insensitive Guy Syndrome) . So before i get to the point where i say something dumb like "lets get married like next month?" and then get yelled at for this......TELL ME PLEASE!!!! :)Dear Rodney,

Make Up, Please!
August 9, 2007
I don’t wear much make up -- much to the chagrin of family and friends -- lipstick is pretty much it. I do love those pretty, colorful packages. If it were my wedding day, I would probably buy everything; practice, practice and still come out looking like a drag queen on acid. That’s not because I don’t know how to apply makeup -- I can’t see a thing without my glasses.Hiring a makeup artist can save you from this very...

Glorious Bridal Shoes
August 10, 2007
Shoes play a big role in the wedding. We all know about the tying of shoes to the back of a car. This seemed to evolve from the Tudor custom where guests would throw shoes at the newlywed couple. It was considered lucky if they or their carriage were hit. This sounds more like a crowd trying to run someone out of town. A custom that is a bit confusing. This above customs is a bit whacky by today's standards,...

Gwen and Jonas' Wedding
August 13, 2007
It's so cool to get this chance to re-live the “big day.” Especially since it’s such a whirlwind at the time. As a good friend said, “it’s all spin and kiss and spin and kiss.” Which is quite true. But I do have these very strong visual memories: like walking down the aisle and seeing Jonas there waiting for me, as well as a hundred smiling faces cheering us on. It was one of the most lovely and overwhelming moments of my life; to get to share my love for Jonas with all the people who mean most to...

When An Eyelash Falls
August 13, 2007When an eyelash falls out, put it on the back of the hand, make a wish and throw it over your shoulder. If it flies off the hand your wish will be granted. Stop! Wishing is lame, replace that eyelash or get some longer more dramatic ones from Extreme Audrey.
These are no drug store false eyelashes. They are Xtreme Lashes; individual semi-permanent lashes. Styles vary from a natural fuller look or a bold and dramatic flavor. The best part is the lashes can last up to two or more with... -

Top 11 Reasons Its NOT a Good Idea to Put The Groom In Charge of the Wedding
August 15, 2007Ah, wedding planning. Isn't it the greatest joy? (insert sarcastic tone here) Brides-to-be: have you had those days where you just want to pull your hair out, or preferably someone else's hair; out of pure frustration? Are you stressed beyond your wildest imagination; knee-deep in DJ contracts, color schemes, and bridesmaids dresses; only to look over and see your dear fiance heavily engrossed in a game of "Grand Theft Auto" on his Playstation? And in this frustrated, stressed-out level of persona, have...

Drum Call
August 28, 2007
The African Dance was an unexpected treat by Gwen and Jonas. This is truly diverse celebrating.
Surprise everyone by opening your ceremony with African Drums. There is a hush in the audience (hopefully, they're not shocked and confused). Then, in the distance, a succession of rhythmic beats. Ancient instruments fill the air. Regally, majestically, and powerfully, the bride enters. Your subjects rise in respect and awe! It's a moving experience.

The Proposal
Don and I had talked for months about getting engaged, but still; on the day he proposed, I didn't know it was coming. It was the Sunday before Christmas, my very favorite holiday. After a 5 year long-distance relationship, the Florida boy finally decided to pack up his life and move in with me, to New Jersey. This was his first holiday season here, and seeing NYC at Christmas-time is a must. So I took him all around to see the lights at Tavern on the Green, a horse and carriage...
