Christian, Manolo, Jimmy Who?

From Vera Wang to Oscar De La Renta, bridal designers have been wooing us for decades with their couture masterpieces. With such emphasis on the gown, is the shoe that important? What if the shoe doesn’t fit? You decide…

Bling is in, from the diva Lopez heel by Benjamin Adams (bottom left) to the affordable Nina sling back (top left), but does it have to be expensive? Is there really a difference? To those that scream a resounding “yes;” what is it? For starters - the price. How much do you think these shoes cost? Take a guess and check your footwear facts.

From top left - Nina $99.99; bottom left - Benjamin Adams $ 807.93; center - Christian Lacroix $549.00; top right - Christian Louboutin $1,165.00; top right corner - Gina $1278.00; bottom right - Pella Moda $163.95.

The affordable Pella Moda mule has a leather sole and rhinestone embellishment (albeit not Swarovski). The Christian Louboutin is also made of leather but with a sequin mirrored finish. The Christian Lacroix pair is a dyeable white silk satin sandal with Swarovski crystals studded on the toe strap. So do these slight differences really make a difference? And what about comfort on this long day? Does price = comfort? Most of us would say no. I have my favorite too-many-seasons-ago-to-say Franco Sarto mules that are a staple in my wardrobe when I'm on my feet all day at work. And I know you have some worn-in old leather foot soldiers of your own. Yet some of us are still drawn to that red-soled stilleto, that gold medalion on the toe, and even the red striped heel now and again. So while the issue of comfort versus cost is still out for debate, be prepared to invest in something no bride should go without…Foot Petals! No matter how much your pumps cost, your feet are worth the few extra dollars for some comfortable padding to help you dance ‘til dawn! Looking for a cute shower gift? How about Foot Petals’ Runaway Bride gift set...

And for those who choose to walk the path less travelled, try flip flops with a little bling...

If a pair of shoes cost a thousand dollars - there better be DIAMONDS on them!!! Who would pay so much to wear shoes that are not even comfortable?!?!?! I suppose it would be a bride trying to keep up with the Jones's - careful! Don't sprain your ankle, they tend to run fast, lollol!!!
