Signature Cocktails: Champagne Cocktail

POSTED BY Colleen Mullaney, 06 September 2007

Serves 8 1 bottle (750ml)

Champagne, chilled 16 oz.

Grand Marnier 4 oz.

lemon juice

8 sugar cubes

Divide and pour into each glass the Grand Marnier, lemon juice. Drop in the sugar cube and fill each glass with Champagne. Serve immediately.

The champagne toast at the wedding marks a joyous end to formalities and a splendid beginning of festivities. Champagne is celebratory in itself, but when mixed to make a cocktail, it becomes a decadent addition to the party. Champagne cocktails are perfect for receptions any time of the day. For a morning affair, omit the lemon juice and add in fresh orange juice. Having a champagne cocktail need not break the bank, there are many fine champagnes for every budget, and one on the drier side goes best when adding liqueur and other sweet ingredients, like sugar cubes. Cheers!
