Lydia's Cool Engagement Ring Story

Hi! My name’s Lydia and I’m married to Zach. I hope you enjoyed our video and maybe got some ideas from it. One of the best things about planning our wedding was that we didn’t give ourselves much time; only four months, which left less time to stress out. The more time you have, the more time you have to stress about things that might not matter in the end. We got engaged on June 3 (my birthday) and were married on Oct. 2.

Zach had spotted the ring in San Francisco almost two years before; can you imagine he’d been planning to ask me to marry him for all that time? It took him all that time to track down the artist in Germany and at the last minute; the NIGHT BEFORE my birthday; the ring arrived in the mail!

Zach had planned to ask me on the Brooklyn Bridge as he wanted an accessible location to visit in the future but he got nervous and opted to ask me on our roof. It’s a real SCARY climb and I didn’t want to do it! I was also worried that we’d be late for brunch and I really wanted my “English-style breakfast” with the beans and the fried tomatoes because it was MY birthday! But he was insistent so I climbed the ladder and the rest is history.
